[OWLS Blog Tour] We All Live in a Pokemon World: An Ode to Pokemon III

Hey Hey Heroes, Travelers, and Wandering NPCs, its been awhile since I participated in one of these OWLS Blog Tours. But, when I read the prompt for this month’s tour, I just knew I had to participate.

Here at OWLS, we are pretty thankful that we are able to come together as a community and share a love and appreciation for anime and manga. This month we will be showcasing our appreciation by giving a shout out post to our favorite manga artists, creators, production companies, and writers who produced some of our favorite works. We will be discussing our favorite works by these creators and our reasons as to why we appreciate them.

November 2018 Blog Tour Prompt

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, each and every member of the OWLS team has been sharing things they are thankful for; from content creators to specific series to personal stories, each member has taken this month’s topic and made it their own. Just before me, Flow wrote about two visual novels that left a huge impact on their life, so check that out if you haven’t already! Next on the 28th is Scott, so definitely keep your eyes peeled for that soon!

For my post, I’m going to write about a topic I have written about at length several times before, but is no less important to me… Pokemon!

I have been in love with the world of Pokemon since I was eleven years old when I received my first ever Pokemon game, Pokemon Crystal Versionmaybe even before that, since I have fond memories of watching the Pokemon anime on Kids WB when I was a kid… I never missed an episode, I was enamored with Ash’s Pokemon journey and the adventures he had each week with Misty, Brock, and his best friend Pikachu. I remember wishing I too could embark on my own Pokemon Journey one day, a dream I fear I have never quite given up hope of making a reality.

My Top 10 Favorite Generation Six Pokemon

It’s been a long time since I wrote my last Pokemon Top 10 list, I originally intended to have all of these posts done before the release of Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon, but one thing lead to another… ah well, better late than never! This time around, I’ll be covering my Top Ten Gen  6 Pokémon. So let’s get this party started…

kalos

The sixth generation games brought Pokemon to the third dimension with improved 3D graphics and a whole host of interactive features! While liked all of the new advancements and features added to the Gen VI games, I wasn’t quite so impressed with all the new Pokemon that were introduced this time around… they just weren’t as memorable. In fact, I think this was the generation with the fewest new Pokemon rounding out at just 72 critters to capture.

My Top 10 Favorite Generation Five Pokemon

It’s been awhile, but I’m back again with yet another Top 10 Pokémon list! This time around, I’ll be covering my Top Ten Gen  5 Pokémon. So let’s get this party started…

unova

The fifth generation games renewed my love of the Pokémon series! Both Black and White and their sequels had a much more dramatic narrative than any of the previous Pokemon titles. In terms of storytelling, the fifth generation games were some of the best Pokemon games to date… excluding Pokémon Sun and Moon. However, I have to say that I was not a huge fan of all of the Pokemon introduced in these games… Out of the 156 new Pokémon introduced in Black and White, I really only liked a handful of them. In fact, my team in Black mostly consisted of Pokémon from previous generations, so this wasn’t an easy list to write. But, this was a much easier list to write that the Gen Four list, so silverlinings…

PokeNews: Meloetta Distribution

Here we are again with another PokeNews report! We are now at the end of the Pokemon 20th Anniversary Legendary Pokemon Release Event! We’ve seen a host of Pokemon announcements and goodies from Nintendo since we started this thing back in February, from the announcement of Moon and Sun to the release of Pokken Tournament! We’ve got ten truly awesome legendary Pokemon under our belts already. This has been an amazing year for Pokemon and I almost don’t want it to end,  but regardless it’s time to push forward to the last legendary, with December‘s Meloetta release!

meloetta

Meloetta, the Melody Pokemon, with two forms. While in its Aria Form, Meloetta is a Normal/Psychic and when in its Pirouette Form, it becomes a Normal/Fighting type. The second, Pirouette Form is activated by using the move Relic Song during battle, but will revert back when switched out or at the end of the battle.

There has only been one past distribution event for Meloetta, in 2013 for Black 2 and White 2. So if you missed your chance to get Meloetta back then, now is your chance.

[Announcement] Out Exploring Alola…

pokemon_sun_moon.0.0

Since Pokemon Sun and Moon was released today, I’m cancelling this week’s Fangirl Moment post so I can play it! I probably could have written a quick Fangirl Friday post last night or right now while I wait for my local Gamestop to open, but when I try to force them they never seem to come out right…

playing video games

But, that is besides the point, the fact of the matter is that I am putting everything on hold while I play Pokemon Moon. So don’t expect much from me in the next few days, as I will be busy exploring Alola!

As of right now, the Last Week Today post for 11/13 to 11/19 isn’t cancelled… but, we’ll see how that goes come Sunday.

genesect

I don’t know about you guys, but I’ve been waiting all year for this Pokemon to be released! Genesect, the Paleozoic Pokemon, is a bug/steel type. While, it doesn’t evolve, Genesect can utilize Drives that change the type of elemental blast when using the move Techno Blast. This Pokemon was created through several modifications devised by Team Plasma and it is the last Pokemon of the Unova region.

Genesect was released only once, through a WiFi event for Black 2 and White 2. So if you missed your chance to get Genesect back in 2012, now is your chance.

It’s exactly one month before the official  Nov. 18th North American release of the new seventh generation Pokémon  games Sun and Moon and Nintendo has a special surprise for us… a special demo!! *Update [10/19]: I want to give a shoutout to Phya, she definitely helped me out with the 3DS screencap issue, I’ll definitely be using it for future 3DS game reviews!!

Here we are again with another PokeNews report! In honor of the release of the nineteenth Pokemon feature length film, Volcanion and the Mechanical Marvel, Nintendo is holding a Special Volcanion Distribution!!

volcanion

Volcanion, the Steam Pokemon, is a Fire/Water type legendary Pokemon and although it has not been featured in any of the main series games it is still considered one of the sixth generation Pokemon. Volcanion is able to use the water stored within it’s body to create steam, which it shoots from the connected cannons on its back.  Like Hoopa and Magiana, Volcanion was leaked in Coro Coro Magazine prior to it’s official GameFreak reveal.

Here we are again with another PokeNews report! We are now nine months into the Pokemon 20th Anniversary Legendary Pokemon Release Event! Keldeo, the Colt Pokemon, is a water/fighting type introduced in Pokemon Black and White. It along with Cobalion, Terrakion, and Virizion makes up the Swords of Justice. Like Shaymin, Keldeo has two forms, Normal and Resolute. In order to activate it’s resolute form, Keldeo must be brought the Pledge Grove. Once there the Sword of Justice Pokemon will appear and teach Keldeo Secret Sword, triggering the change. As long as Keldeo knows Secret Sword, it will retain it’s Resolute form.

There were two past events for Keldeo, once in 2012 for Black and White and a second time in 2013 for Black 2 and White 2. So if you missed your chance to get Keldeo back then, now is your chance.

My Top 10 Favorite Generation Four Pokemon

It’s September and I’m back again with yet another Top 10 Pokemon list! This time around, I’ll be covering my Top Ten Gen 4 Pokemon. So let’s get this party started…

I don’t really have the fondest memories of the Fourth Generation, by the time Diamond and Pearl rolled around I was becoming more and more disillusioned  with Pokemon in general…*sigh* there, I said it…I almost gave up on Pokemon. I guess I was getting older, and the games just weren’t as fun as they used to be, in fact, the fourth generation is my least favorite Pokemon generation. The only truly redeeming part of the generation was the reboot of Gen 2 with the releases of Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver! I can’t even tell you much about the Sinnoh other than the fact that the Underground was a gold mine for fossil hunters! Oh and those really weird and random evolutions for Tangela, Electabuzz, and Magmar… But, yeah…Sinnoh introduced us to 107 brand new Pokemon, and I’ll be picking just 10 of them. So without further ado, my Top Ten Gen 4 Pokemon!!
