Edit (6/29): The Kickstarter for this game was successful at meeting its funding goal. The final funding amount was $6,738 with 234 backers! The game now has a tentative release date of October/November 2017!
I am super late with this post, I seriously meant to have it up weeks ago, but better late than never, am I right? Back in March Argent Gameslaunched a Kickstarter campaign for their second BL visual novel Chess of Blades, however they were unable to raise the necessary funding by their April deadline… so, they took a step back to reevaluated the project and I am happy to say that they are giving Kickstarter another go!! So, if you missed out on supporting the first campaign now is the time to show your support!!
In the time between the first campaign and the current one, Argent Games has been hard at work bringing polishing Chess of Blades into something spectacular! New characters, improved artwork and more await in this upcoming BL title!
Hello all you wonderful Heroes and Travelers, it’s Thrifty Thursday and that means another Thrifty Gaming, the weekly post series where I spotlight three otome games/visual novels for gamers on a budget. Whatever your financial situation, I’m here to bring you affordable games that won’t break the bank!! All of the games on this list are $10 or less (does not include limited time offers and sale items), so no more weepy wallets!
This week’s post will include links to the games and a brief synopsis, but let me stress that these are not reviews, but recommendations… so your mileage may vary! Now that that’s out of the way lets get on to this week’s list!!
Insatiable Creatures is a short comedy, suspense kinetic novel created by PB & Jelly for the one month gamejam, NaNoRenO 2017. This is a free game and is playable on Windows and Mac operating systems. The game is roughly 15 minutes long, with two main characters and features full English voice acting.
Insatiable Creatures tells the story of a TA, Lucas who is asked to investigate the site where four high school students mysteriously vanished. He reluctantly takes on the task, but what he finds is a bit more than he bargained for…
Since developers only have a month to create these games, I will be a bit more forgiving of these titles’s shortcomings, however, that doesn’t mean I won’t give you guys my honest opinion in each review.
Back in November Naive Sprites launched their first Kickstarter campaign for their Alice in Wonderland inspired English otome game, A Very Important Date. However, they were not able to meet their original funding goal by the end of the campaign… Well, I am excited to write that they have not given up on the project and are back with a second revamped campaign!! This time around the team is looking to raise funding for the main game and a spin-off game featuring a male protagonist! Plus there is a ton of new content and features that expand on the original concept.
I have been following this game’s development for a long time now and I absolutely adored the demo!! I really want to see this project become a reality! So when Naive Sprites announced that they were giving Kickstarter another go, I knew I had to show my support!
Hey hey guys I’m back with yet another Crowdfunding campaign! This time around, I’m spotlighting SweetChiel’s upcomingfantasy romance visual novel, Nusantara: Bermuda Triangle, the successor to their 2015 visual novel, Nusantara: Legend of the Winged Ones. While the game isn’t a sequel it does take place in the same universe as its predecessor, with a brand new heroine and adventure for players to enjoy!
Fans of the first game will be sure to love this new edition to the Nusantara universe, while new fans will definitely find something fun to add to their games collection.
Edit (6/29): The Kickstarter for this game failed to achieve the necessary funds by the deadline. Production of the game is on hold until the developers feel that there is a viable market for it.
Hey hey guys I’m back with yet another Kickstarter campaign! This time around, I’m spotlighting theupcoming dating sim, Two Scoops. This game is a joint collaboration between Thumb Cramps and Pillowfight and follows an unnamed protagonist as she adjusts to her new job at a local ice cream shop and maybe find love along the way…
I am always excited to see games that break the mold with their characters and Two Scoops does that and more. With a diverse cast of characters and love interests from a wide range of backgrounds and genders, this promises to be fresh new title that is bound to appeal to a wide range of players.
Hey Hey Heroes and Travelers this is a special welcome back giveaway. Real life has been kicking my butt lately so I haven’t been able to do as much blogging as I would have liked these past few months…. However, I was finally able to get everything to a stable place and as thanks for your constant love and support, I am holding a special giveaway!!
This is my first time doing something like this and depending on how this turns out I might be inclined to do another giveaway in the future…
Some of you know this already, but I crochet and while I usually stick to afghans, hats, and scarves, but recently I’ve gotten pretty good at amigurumi crafts. So for one lucky follower, I will be giving away a free amigurumi doll!
I am leaving the design of the doll up to the winner. They can choose to have a doll made in their likeness or choose a character, but keep in mind that if you ask for something I can’t do, I will let you know and you’ll have to come up with something else.
Each doll is handmade by me and they are roughly 6 inches. I use acrylic yarn for the bodies and the filling is 100% polyester craft filling.
I will share pictures of the finished doll with the winner prior to shipping to ensure that the doll is exactly what they want, but once I send it off I will not accept returns.

I will announce the winner on Twitter and here on Nice Job Breaking It Hero, but I will also be contacting winners directly using the email address you used to enter the giveaway. So, in order to spread our message of self acceptance and tolerance, we’ve decided to hold Monthly Blog Tours! During Blog Tours, we each write individual theme posts on our blogs that promote our group’s values, with a bit of an otaku twist. May’s Blog Tour topic is Strength!
*Disclaimer: This post and the film, Colorful deal with some heavy themes that some people may be uncomfortable with, namely suicide and death. While I understand that different cultures and people deal with mental health in different ways, it’s important to know that this is an important topic and I have done my best to handle it with the utmost care. Remember that if you or anyone you know is experiencing feelings of loneliness, saddness, hopelessness or considering suicide, you are not alone!
Hello Heroes and Travelers, here we are at the end of another week here on Nice Job Breaking It, Hero! Some of you may have noticed that I’ve stopped writing all of my weekly post series (save this one). Don’t worry, they aren’t cancelled, just on hold until June like everything else. I’m currently working on bringing everything up to snuff and for that I need a bit of time and with all the real life stuff I have going on right now, I need to prep a bit.
I will still upload game reviews during this time, but, that will be about it. If everything goes as planned, I should have everything back and running starting June 1st. In the meantime, I am always open to chatting with more bloggers and writers, so definitely hit me up and say hi, a list of where to find me online is, HERE! Also, if you want to exchange Blogroll links, just let me know and I’d be more than happy to add you, however, you kind of sorta have to write about Japanese culture and media (anime, manga, otome games, etc), but I will make an exception for K-dramas a K-pop stuff!
