Re:Birthday Song ~Koi o Utau Shinigami ( Re:BIRTHDAY SONG～恋を唄う死神～) is a 2015 Japanese supernatural fantasy otome game, developed by Honeybee (the team behind the popular, Starry Sky series). While the game does not have an official English language release, earlier this year, estearisa released a full English patch of the game. Of course as it is with most patches, you’ll have to purchase a Japanese copy of the PC game (not the Vita port) in order to play it. I will say this now, it’s easier to find copies of the Vita version of the game, however, they won’t work with the patch. (Ebay has a few copies floating around though)
The game follows Kokoro a young girl who suddenly becomes the newest resident of the Netherworld, a place where souls with deep regrets go when they die, as she trains to become a full fledged shinigami. But, because our heroine isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed, she has to take supplementary lessons with a group of shinigami rejects…
I am notorious for never finishing games, so I picked up Re: Birthday on a whim, since my playthroughs of Period Cube have pretty much come to a standstill. So, I figured I’d play one route and go back to PC, what I didn’t expect was to be hit over the head with wave after wave of tear inducing emotions… OH MY GOD THE FEELS IN THIS GAME!! I’d played one of Honeybee’s other titles, Starry Sky in Spring ages ago and it’s like comparing apples and oranges!
Disclaimer: Screenshots used in this post were taken from the game and belong to Honeybee and the other respective developers of the game. Also, this game deals with some mature topics such as, but not limited to: death, suicide, and grief. Just a bit of a warning.

Period Cube ~Shackles of Amadaeus~ is a fantasy/RPG Japanese otome game developed by Otomate, based on the Drama CD series of the same name. The game was released in Japan in 2016 for the PS Vita, prior to it’s English language release by Aksys Games on April 28th. I’d heard some mixed reviews about this game from folks who played the Japanese version, but I like to give games the benefit of the doubt, especially when it comes to major localizations and releases (Norn9 does not count)… Period Cube is a commercial release, full retail: $39.99 USD on Amazon (affiliate link), which isn’t all that bad for what the game has to offer, especially when importing the Japanese version is double, if not triple that amount.
I seriously thought I’d be done with Period Cube by now, I honestly hoped that I would be, but life has been getting in the way of my gaming. I’m still working my way through the game ( a full review is still a ways off), but I’ve already cleared four routes and I have more than a few thoughts about the game… namely, WTF is with this MC?!! Plus, it’s good to get my ranting out of the way now… There may be some spoilers, but since I’m still playing through the game, there shouldn’t be any major plot reveals…

Hello Heroes and Travelers, here we are at the end of another week here on Nice Job Breaking It, Hero! Sorry I’m a bit late with this week’s recap, the OWLS Monthly Livestream was last night and when Kat, Lita, and I get together we always end up talking for hours (four hours this time, a new record). So, I opted to sleep in, on top of that Period Cube was released a few days ago and I have been swooning over a certain adorkable megane… *ahem* I’ve been otherwise engaged LOL
This has been a good year for otome games and I expect that there will be more releases in the coming weeks and months, so be warned I may go ghost during major game releases. I’m also working on a fun theme for May, so be on the look out throughout the month!

After a night of heavy drinking, the MC discovers that she slept with the Accounts Planning Executive, Toshiaki Kijima. Unable to reconcile the Demon Executive with the sweet, loving man she shared a night of passion with, the MC initially dismisses the notion that Toshiaki was the one she’d slept with. But, when he sends her a text asking to meet up at the same bar, she realizes the idea might not be as far-fetched as she originally thought! Is there really more to this cool businessman than meets the eye? Or was that night just a beautiful delusion?
This was the route I was most looking forward to and it did not disappoint. This route was very different from Tachibana’s but in a good way. I can’t see how any of the other routes in the game are going to top this one, it was just so… PERFECT! If you want a general overview of Irresistible Mistakes, click HERE, it’s covers the basic premise of the game and will include links to the other character reviews I will write for the game.

Out of all of the available guys in this game, Eisuke Ichinomiya is by far my absolute favorite! He is literally the ultimate otome man, with his handsome face and deep pockets, he’s the total package… But, that’s not all there is to him, when you look beyond his good looks and money, Eisuke is one of the sweetest most compassionate men I have ever had the pleasure of romancing in an otome game!
After the MC finds herself up for sale at a secret black market auction, she fears that she will become the plaything of some sick sadistic bastard… But, lo, Eisuke swoops in like an avenging angel to save her from a life of abject servitude and lavishes her with love and affection!

Alright, so this is another game that has been sitting in my backlog for way too long. But, since my office was closed for Spring Break I figured now was a good time as ever to pull this game out of the abyss and give it a play… I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with stats raiser games, on one hand… nah, I’m not even going to try and sugar coat it! Stats raiser games can be a pain in the ass, plain and simple, and I have heard some wonderful stories about the stats raising in SakeVisual’s Backstage Pass, that made me very reluctant to start it…
Backstage Pass was released twice, the first being the early access beta (2014), which is what I originally bought and never played, and the second being the final completed version of the game which was released August 2016 for PC (Windows, Linux, Mac) and Steam. The game features full English voice acting and at a cool $29.99, I’d say that’s a fair price to pay for the amount of content the game offers.

I don’t know what made me buy Tauxolouve’s main story, since I wasn’t remotely interested in the guy at all… Mature playboys just aren’t my type at all, but there I was playing his route until the butt crack of dawn, and not only did I enjoy it… I found myself falling hard for the guy!
Tauxolouve is the god of Sagittarius and while outwardly he’s a bit of a tease, the real Tauxolouve is much more compassionate and steadfast than folks give him credit for. Sure he talks a big game, but he never actually acts on any of the suggestive things he says. Is he really a womanizer like everyone says, or is it all just an act?
