Hello all you wonderful Heroes and Travelers, it’s Thrifty Thursday and that means another Thrifty Gaming, the weekly post series where I spotlight three otome games/visual novels for gamers on a budget. Whatever your financial situation, I’m here to bring you affordable games that won’t break the bank!! All of the games on this list are $10 or less (does not include limited time offers and sale items), so no more weepy wallets!

-Synopsis

Liar Uncover the Truth is a free to play mobile otome game from Japanese game developers Voltage Inc. Collect evidence and investigate potential suitors in this Phoenix Wright-esque otome game. Shift through the bachelors’s social media accounts, text messages, and even go on dates in order to sort out the lies from the truth and find your Mr. Right! Liar arcs consist of several small chapters which require tickets to unlock. The prologue and the 1st Liar story can be accessed without the use of tickets, but all subsequent Liar stories will require tickets to read. Tickets can be obtained for free daily at 5AM JST or through in game micro-transactions (there are various ticket packages to choose from).

Magikarp Jump (2017)- The Pokemon Company

What is this world coming to?! It’s a Pokémon game all about the weakest Pokémon ever—Magikarp! Anyone can play this simple game in their spare time to create the most majestic Magikarp ever in this official Pokémon app!

What kind of Pokémon is Magikarp?
・ It’s famous—for being pathetically weak, unreliable, and generally useless.
・ It can’t learn any powerful moves—all it does is flop around and splash!
・ When it flops its way too high in the sky, it’s sometimes snagged by the Bird Pokémon Pidgeotto—never to be seen again!

Many surprising events lie in store for this pathetic Pokémon. But don’t worry—it’ll just keep on jumping until it can jump no more!

-Synopsis

In Magikarp Jump trainers can catch and train their very own Magikarp and participate in high stakes jumping contests! Feed and develop your Magikarp to maximize the your Pokémon’s jump power to reach new heights (literally). Then compete in League Challenges to see if your Magikarp has what it takes to be the jumping champ!

Star Days-Sim Date (2017)- Pacthesis

Flash Game (Web Browser)

Play as Tara, a girl who lost her best friend to an illness but finds herself joining aliens on a space adventure to find out where loved ones go after death.

-Synopsis

Star Days-Sim Date is the newly released web browser based flash game from Pacthesis, the creator of the Sim Date game series. While the game does feature some romantic elements, the game is more of an adventure/strategy game, with mystery and suspense thrown in for extra measure. There are eight romanceable characters (both male and female) and a total of 14 unique endings!

  1. Yessss, Magikarp Jump! I know people that are surprisingly really into this game! It’s like Pokemon GO’s derpy younger brother. I need to sink more teeth into it though! Great update as always! 🙂
