Special Giveaway!

giveaway.gif

I’ve been on a bit of a blogging hiatus for the past few weeks due to some real life shenanigans that have kept me pretty busy as of late. Things are still a bit hectic on my end, but I was able to stabilize things a bit, so that I can get back to doing what I love! So, in celebration of my blogging return, I will be holding a special giveaway!!

These past few months have been kind of stressful for me, but you guys have been super supportive throughout and I just want to show my appreciation by giving you guys a little something special. So, ya’ll are probably wondering what I’m going to giveaway… *drumroll* An Amigurumi Doll!

531086.jpg
These are just examples, but if you want, you can request one of them.

For those of you that don’t know, I crochet and I’m pretty decent at it (if I do say so myself), so I figured it would be the perfect item to give as a gift to one special follower!! Now, this is probably going to bite me in the butt, but, I am leaving the design of the doll up to the winner. I can make a doll in your likeness or a character, but keep in mind that if you ask for something I can’t do, I will let you know and you’ll have to come up with something else.

The giveaway will start on June 5th @ 12AM EST and run until June 10th @ 12AM EST.  I will upload an official Giveaway Post on Monday with entry details and whatnot, so keep your eyes peeled for that!

I’ll be writing for MANGA.TOKYO!!

manga tokyo logo

So I mentioned that I had a super special awesome announcement, well here it is! I heard about this site through my work with OWL: Otaku Warriors for Liberty and Self-Respect and when our dear secretary mentioned that there might be a chance to write for them I jumped at the opportunity.

MANGA.TOKYO covers a wide range of topics related to Japan and Japanese media, so there’s something for everyone there!! I finally got one of my articles published, it’s a BL manga featureso definitely check that out and be on the look out for more articles in the near future.

Affiliate Links

Well, I finally broke down and signed up for some Affiliate Program so that I could possibly make a bit of cash doing this blogging thing. The way affiliate programs work is that I earn a small commission on any products you all buy using my affiliate links. Right now I’m enrolled in Affiliate Programs for Amazon.com, MangaGamer, CD Japanand Play-Asia so expect affiliate links to show up every so often in my posts in the near future. I will let you all know in advance if a post contains any affiliate links and I will update my sidebar with links to specific games and products.

The 6th OWLS Blog Tour- Team starts on June 5th!

June is known as “Pride Month” within the LGBT & Queer communities in honor of the Stonewall Riots that occurred at the end of June in 1969. At OWLS, we strongly support individuals who are part of the LGBT & Queer communities as well as individuals who are struggling with their sexual orientation or gender identity.
“Team” functions in two ways: 1) allows individuals to show their support to the LGBT & Queer communities and 2) allows LGBT & Queer communities to express their love to whoever they want.
So for the “Team” topic, we will be discussing our favorite LGBT & Queer characters in anime and other pop culture related media, the impact of the yaoi and yuri genre within LGBT & Queer communities, our personal stories involving gender/sexual orientation, and etc

There are plenty of Blog Tour Stops coming your way this month so be on the look out for announcements on the Official OWLS Twitter @OWLSbloggers, where we will keep you guys updated on each of the upcoming posts and other OWLS news!

I really want to hear from you guys, let me know what you think of Nice Job Breaking It, Hero. What do you think about this change? Do you guys like my posts? Is there something you think I should fix or add? Please feel free to let me know here in the comments section, or you can use this contact form!

Here we are again at the end of another Recap Post, where I highlight four interesting posts from other bloggers that showed up on my Reader this past week…

Thoughts on Fushigi no Umi no Nadia (Spoilers)This post comes from Kapodaco of Criticism and Thoughts! As Kapodaco mentions in this review, Fushigi no Umi no Nadia is one of those often overlook classics, which is a shame because it’s a pretty great series. In typical fashion, this author gives an honest and in-depth look at the series. This is a fantastic review and a must read for anyone looking for an oldie, but goodie to dive into!

Hidden Theme of GangstaThis post comes from  Mel of Mel in Animeland! This series has been suggested to me time and time again and after reading this post I might finally sit down and give it a look. In this post Mel breaks down some of the most prominent themes in Gangsta, from homosexuality to racism, she offers an in depth look at the series!

Haikyuu!! vs Kuroko no Basket– This post comes from Tessa from All About Anime! I love sports anime, so when I saw this post in the reader, I knew I had to put it in this week’s Blogger Spotlight!! I’m a Haikyuu fan myself, but I can appreciate the awesomeness that is Kuroko no Basket. This is a fantastic comparison post and a must read for any self respecting sports anime fan!!

The Trials and Tribulations of Queer OtakuThis post comes from Lydamorehouse of MangaKast – A PodCast of All Things Manga! This is a very candid post about the the nature of shipping and romance from the perspective of a queer otaku. The author touches on the lack of LGBT romantic representation in mainstream anime as well as queer baiting and ship teases. This is a very thought provoking post and I highly recommend giving it a read!!

So here we are at the end of this week’s post! Be sure to check out some of the bloggers from this week’s Weekly Blogger Spotlight, and drop them a line! Strike up a conversation or make a new friend! Don’t be shy get out there and mingle! 😉 Also, don’t worry if your post wasn’t featured in this week’s recap, keep writing and keep posting! I’ll keep my eye out!

See something in your Reader this week that you wanna share? Tell me what you think about my post? Anything you want to see more of? Less of? Have an idea for a post? Shoot me a line in the comments section  or Message me on Twitter! Don’t be shy, I swear I don’t bite! I appreciate input and discussions from my readers so let your voice be heard…and finally, as always Thank You for reading!

  1. You’re amazing at making dolls!!! My favourite one is the Sailor Moon one, maybe because I just love her and the show so much. Congrats on getting published at Manga.Tokyo! I’ll have to check the site out. 🙂 There a lot of good news in this post. 😀

    1. Aww thank you!! 🙂 Yeah, she came out way better than I could have hoped (lol the hair gave me the most trouble). OH? who is your favorite senshi?

Aww thanks, I’m having fun writing for them and there should be more from me coming soon. Yes, definitely check the site out they have some really great reviews and content!!

LOL yup, finally!! Been waiting on good news!

  2. Glad to see you are back, and that things in real life are somewhat back to normal. And wow, congratulations on all the cool stuff that’s happening: most notably ofcourse the announcement that you are going to be writing for Manga Tokyo. That sounds seriously awesome, and something you can surely be proud of 😊
Thanks for all the great news and sharing of posts here. Looking forward to all the posts you have planned for the coming weeks 😀

    1. Aww yeah! Back and ready to hit the ground running!! So far I really like writing for Manga Tokyo, it’s different from what I do here, but in a good way. LOL but I do have deadlines and whatnot so that took a bit of getting used to, but it’s a great opportunity!

No, thank you for stopping by and leaving such a sweet comment and I’m glad you enjoyed my post! 😀

  3. Thank goodness you’re back, Naja! I missed you so much, gurl, it was rather boring without you here.:D
OMG those dolls are so cute. Too bad I’m trying to save money to buy Winsor&Newton Promarkers…:’D. Anyway, I hope they end up on good hands. Also, is it just me, or one of the dolls(the one on the left) looks like Sailor Moon, and another one(the one on the right) looks like a Pokemon character?
Also, I’m so happy to see Argent Games’ new Kickstarter campaign for ‘Chess of Blades’! Doyou know that they released the new demo on Google play too? I can’t wait to download it!:3 Also, The Arcana got some new updates and Liar! Uncover The Truth got a new season, Liar! Office Deception, with a new cast and story.(I like the newer MC more, tho.)

Not to mention how happy I am to see that Pacthesis finally came back! If anything, her dating sims (along with some other weird dating sims I remember vaguely) represented my first experience with the otome world! Too bad I realized this so late tho.XD Nonetheless, Number Days was an amazing and hilarious game, so I wouldn’t be too surprised if I played Star Days either.XD

Finally, I want to add that school in my country finishes in two weeks so that means I’ll finally be able to spend more time here, on Derpibooru and Fimfiction! But I have to admit that this hiatus helped a lot, not only because I had more time for my studies and I accomplished things I never thought I would, but because I found my true interests and what my future career would look like too. Plus, I watched a lot of musicals and art videos and I’m definitely astonished by the huge amount of them.

Anyway, how are things for you? Is everything ok?(Sorry for your break-up too, I’m sorry I couldn’t be there for you.) I can’t wait to find out!
    Until then, welcome back, Naja!:3:D

    1. OMG!!!! HEY!! How have you been?! I missed you too *hugs* It’s been so long since we’ve talked!!

LOL yup you are right one is sailor moon and the other is Pokemon Trainer Red!! I’ve been playing around with ideas for weeks and those are the fruits of my labor XD

IKR, there were so many game updates while I was AWOL, I have a lot of catching up to do! But, yesss to Chess of Blades and Liar!! I am grinding in Liar rn so I can just blaze through the routes later.

I love pacthesis’s games all of them, but Number Days was my first so I am def gonna play Star Days ASAP!!

Woot! Freedom!! But that’s awesome, I’m so glad you were able to get so much done and it sounds like you started making some big moves which is awesome!

Oh things are much better now, finally got most of the big stuff sorted out, but I’m still job hunting 😥 But, I have some promising opportunities so I’m hopeful! Oh no worries, you were there in spirit, I could def feel the love!!
