Last Week Today: Week End Recap- Apr. 2nd- Apr. 8th

Hello Heroes and Travelers, here we are at the end of another week here on Nice Job Breaking It, Hero! I apologize for being so late with this post, but a friend invited me to his Spring Choir concert yesterday and I’ve been either applying to jobs or playing Cinderella Phenomenon for the past week…. so yeah.

Pretty accurate gif this week…

Also, there will be no Last Week Today Post next week… Let me repeat that for those of you playing with your phones in the back, THERE WILL BE NO ‘LAST WEEK TODAY’ POST NEXT WEEK… I just need a week off, these posts take me hours to write since there are so many different parts to it and I usually wind up spreading it out over the entire weekend… But, not this time, I’m going to sleep in on Saturday for once!

The Blog Renovations are COMPLETE (for now)!

Please guys, I need your help with the renovations, if you see something wonky or find a link/page jump that doesn’t work PLEASE tell me about it! I have a lot of content to go through and it is literally just me running this show and I am human, I miss stuff all the time… so if you see something weird please let me know. 🙂

I’ll be writing for MANGA.TOKYO!!

manga tokyo logo

So I mentioned that I had a super special awesome announcement, well here it is! I heard about this site through my work with OWL: Otaku Warriors for Liberty and Self-Respect and when our dear secretary mentioned that there might be a chance to write for them I jumped at the opportunity.

MANGA.TOKYO covers a wide range of topics related to Japan and Japanese media, so there’s something for everyone there!! I’m still getting stuff set up with them, so I don’t have anything up yet, but I’ll definitely keep you guys posted about that!! Yay!! I’m so excited and a bit nervous about this since, this’ll be my first time writing for an official site like this… but, I figure if I can write about what I love it’ll be fun!

Affiliate Links

affiliates.png

Well, I finally broke down and signed up for some Affiliate Program so that I could possibly make a bit of cash doing this blogging thing. The way affiliate programs work is that I earn a small commission on any products you all buy using my affiliate links.  Right now I’m enrolled in Affiliate Programs for Amazon.com, MangaGamer, and Play-Asia so expect affiliate links to show up every so often in my posts in the near future. I will let you all know in advance if a post contains any affiliate links and I will update my sidebar with links to specific games and products.

The 4th OWLS Blog Tour- Colors is under way! Each OWLS member will be uploading their individual posts throughout the month of March!

We are all part of one race, the human race. “Colors” refers to people of color in anime. For this monthly topic, we will be discussing how people of color or characters of different “races” (a literal alien race) are represented in anime. Some topics we are considering is the dangers of stereotyping, bi-racial characters, and the importance of racial inclusion.

This week’s Blog Tour guides were Matthew Castillo (Matt-in-the-Hat), who wrote about Rosario + Vampire, Venus (Japanime Talks) who wrote about K Project, Me (Naja B.) and my post about Naruto, and Rai (Rai’s Anime Blog) and her post about Avatar The Last Airbender!

This Week’s OWLS Blog Tour Stops

  1. Arria Cross (Fujinsei) April 10th
  2.  Remy Fool (The Lily Garden) April 12th
  3. Katrina Sade (Grimmgirl) April 14th
  4. Lita (LitaKino Anime Corner) April 15th

pretending to write

I got caught up playing Cinderella Phenomenon, so, I didn’t get around to writing everything on last week’s list…. I’m still playing it, so it’s possible that this week will wind up being a repeat of last week, but who knows! Of course this goes without say, but this list is ALWAYS subject to changes since new games come out every other day… So, this week’s posts:

Monday

  • Melanin Monday- I have no idea what I’m going to write about this week, but I’ve been playing around with a few ideas, so whatever I decide on is sure to be worth the read!!
  • Let’s Show Our Support for Soulless Wonder- One of the developers contacted me about this unique monster girl VN earlier last week, so after giving it the once over I decided to write up a post about it since it’s currently running a KS campaign!

Tuesday

  • Nothing Planned- I’m just going to leave this day open in case I have to move things around or, I don’t know, want to sleep or something productive like that!

Wednesday

  • First Thoughts: Code Realize~ Guardians of Rebirth- Yeah, I realize it’s been months since I last mentioned this game… I have been playing this game off and on (around 10 minutes a day) and I’m still about half-way through Impey’s route, but, I want to get my thoughts about the game out, so hopefully by Wednesday I’ll be further along.

Thursday

  • Thrifty Gamer- This is the post where I spotlight three visual novels for gamers on a budget. Every game featured is priced $10 or less, so definitely check out this week’s thrifty picks!!

Friday

  • Fangirl Moment: I’ll Give It My All Tomorrow- For this week’s Fangirl Friday post, I’ll be covering a slice of life comedy, manga by Shunju Aono! (Third time is the charm)

Saturday

  • Nothing Planned- I’m just going to leave this day open in case I have to move things around or, I don’t know, want to sleep or something productive like that!

Here we are again at the end of another Recap Post, where I highlight four interesting posts from other bloggers that showed up on my Reader this past week…

Yuuri Katsuki & Finding Strength In YourselfThis post comes from D of D Talks AnimeYuri!!! on Ice has been dominating the anime community since it’s release last year and a lot of that has to do with it’s relatable lead Yuuri Katsuki. In this post, D explains just what makes Yuuri such a great character! Whether you’re a fan of the series or not, this is a fantastic character feature!!

Friday’s Feature: Critiquing Is Not Synonymous With HatingThis post comes from Karandi of 100 Word AnimeConstructive criticism or outright hate, that is the topic of this week’s Friday Feature! I am not above writing a rant instead of a review, in fact, I have done it before (and probably will do it again), but regardless of how I or anyone else feels about something, it’s important to remember to respect other people’s opinions, even if they differ from your own. This is a fantastic feature and a must read for bloggers and readers alike!!

The downside of anime blogging– This post comes from Scott from Mechanical Anime ReviewsThis is one of those posts that just resonates with you on a spiritual level, especially if you are one of the chose few brave enough to take up blogging. While this post focuses primarily on the downsides of aniblogging, many of the points Scott brings up can be applied to blogging in general! This is a must read for all of my bloggers out there or anyone that writes for a living!

NEETaku Rants: AshxMisty – I’m Still Not Over It!!!This post comes from NEETaku of Just… My 2 CentsHave I mentioned how much I love NEETaku and their rants? Because I frickin’ love NEETaku’s rants!!! In this post NEETaku covers a topic that I have been raging over since I was a kid and that’s the whole Ash/Misty romance fiasco from pokemon! So, if like me you are still salty that Ash and Misty never ended up as a couple, this is the post for you!! Bonus Points: I highly recommend reading the follow-up post NEETaku Rants: AshxMisty Extra Credit, trust me…

So here we are at the end of this week’s post! Be sure to check out some of the bloggers from this week’s Weekly Blogger Spotlight, and drop them a line! Strike up a conversation or make a new friend! Don’t be shy get out there and mingle! 😉 Also, don’t worry if your post wasn’t featured in this week’s recap, keep writing and keep posting! I’ll keep my eye out!

See something in your Reader this week that you wanna share? Tell me what you think about my post? Anything you want to see more of? Less of? Have an idea for a post? Shoot me a line in the comments section  or Message me on Twitter! Don’t be shy, I swear I don’t bite! I appreciate input and discussions from my readers so let your voice be heard…and finally, as always Thank You for reading!

  2. Isn’t it ridiculous that it takes hours upon end to draft posts, but it might take 10-15 tops to read them? I think about that every Wednesday with my big, “what have I been reading” post. I have to work on it every day starting Saturday, and some sessions can take a few hours. If I just did it on Wednesday it could take 3-6 hours. Between links, pictures, and formatting, it’s such a daunting task getting stuff out, so I feel you, girl!

Good luck with the job interviews, and I’m glad you’re still doing fun stuff in the interim. Finding a job is like having a job, and all work and now play, well you know the rest 🙂

Oh, and I’m happy I caught your monthly OWLS! I’m subscribed now so I should be able to check them out every time.

You are preaching to the choir! These long posts are monsters!*hugs* There are days when I’m like, why am I doing this again? and then I get a comment like this and I remember!

Thanks! I’m just hoping for the best on the job front since it’s been radio silence… sigh

Awww yeah!! I’m glad you were able to stop by we have a lot of fun with the livestreams and the monthly Blog Tours! You should definitely check out this month’s posts since it’s a topic I think you’d really enjoy if you haven’t already.
