[News] MangaGamer Anime Boston Game Announcements

mangagamer 1

This past weekend MangaGamer held a panel at Anime Boston where they made a few exciting game announcements, two of which I’m not gonna lie, I wasn’t really interested in, since I’m not really into the whole moe girl thing, but there was one game that really made my day!! MangaGamer is releasing another Boys Love title!!

But there’s nothing wrong with more games, so all of these announcements are a welcome treat!! Of course I’m sure these won’t be the only announcements we’ll be getting from MangaGamer this year, since they always reveal upcoming titles at each of the conventions they attend, so be on the look out for those by following them on twitter or by checking out their Announcement site!

So now that that’s out of the way, here are their Anime Boston game announcements!!

Hashihime of the Old Book Town

Jinbochou, Tokyo
June 1922, Taisho Era
The Rainy Season
Tamamori came to Tokyo with his sights set on getting accepted to the Imperial University. However, he doesn’t pass the entrance exam, and is so undisciplined and wrapped up in endless fantasies that he’s kicked out of his boarding house after only two years. Through a stroke of luck, Tamamori begins to live and work at Umebachidou, a used book store. There, he enjoys whiling away his time as a “student preparing for entrance exams” and taking advantage of friends who are also from his hometown. But one right after the other, mysterious deaths befall those friends and, realizing he’s been repeating the same rainy three days over and over again, Tamamori finds himself racing throughout Jinbochou to save them.
In this pop-occult mystery that surrounds the deaths of his friends… What is real, and what is a hallucination?

-Synopsis

Hashihime of the Old Book Town is a Japanese historical mystery boys love visual novel, developed by ADELTA. The game was originally released in Japan in 2016 for PC under the name, Koshotengai no Hashihime.

Out of all the games MangaGamer announced this is the one I was most looking forward to since there are only a few developers willing to bring over BL titles! Plus I am a sucker for historical games, the character designs look so cool, I just love them all!! But, the icing on top of the cake is the fact that there is a megane character and a character with an eyepatch! Both my biases in one place!!

Trinoline

One hot, midsummer’s day, Shun Nanami’s sister drowned to death. It’s a memory he will never forget, which has become lodged forevermore in his heart. He decides from then on to live in her stead, to make up for the life she never got to lead.

Time passes, his agonizing childhood behind him, and he currently spends his days attending school like always. Then, another sultry summer comes around, reminding him ever-so-slightly of his sister once again…

Just then, he hears a piano’s melody far off in the distance–a tune she always adored. He follows this music to its source, only to find his sister standing there.

“Please take care of me from now on, Onii-chan.”

His little sister passed away long ago, but now, an android who looks exactly like her has appeared before him, “TRINO.”

Synopsis

Trinoline is a BxG sci-fi romance visual novel, developed by minori. The game was originally released in Japan earlier this year for PC.

At first glance, this doesn’t really look like a game that I’d really like, but after reading the synopsis a few times and watching the promotional video again my opinion has changed a bit. This title definitely looks like something straight out of a harem anime, but even I can admit that the sci-fi premise is pretty interesting… so I’ll keep my eye on this one too!

Sweet Young Bride ~ Our Married Life Begins ~

Image result for Sweet Young Bride ~ Our Married Life Begins ~

Due to the declining birth rate in Japan, the “Government-Sponsored Marriage Program” was created, pairing men with their perfect mate. Kouta is chosen as one of the lucky candidates, and when he goes to meet his future bride, he meets Hazuki, a beautiful young girl. They are married the same night, and Kouta’s new wife makes a request of him:

“Please… Please do lewd things to me.”

-Synopsis

Sweet Young Bride ~ Our Married Life Begins ~ is a Japanese eroge kinetic novel, developed by Ammolite. The game was originally released in Japan back in 2015 for PC under the name, Tsumairo Shoujo ~Fuufu Seikatsu, Hajimemasu~.

First, let me say that I don’t really like eroge games at the best of times, but I’m really not a fan of eroge with tiny, child-like women… So, this is gonna have to be a hard pass for me!

final thoughts

So those were the announced games, I’m really only interested in the BL title, since folks seem to think there isn’t a market for them in the West… This marks the third BL game from MangaGamer after their release of Parade’s No Thank You!! in 2015 and the announcement of Hadaka Shitsuji last year at Anime Expo. So hopefully this is the start of a trend!

Trinoline looks interesting, but I’m still on the fence about it right now, the premise is cool, but the large breasted girl in the promotional video gives me pause… The last title, Sweet Young Bride ~ Our Married Life Begins ~ is a nope for me… but, there’s a market for it so more power to MangaGamer for that…

I’m looking forward to more game announcements from MangaGamer as the Convention season keeps truckin’ along so we’ll see how that goes!!

What do you think of the announcement? What games are you most looking forward to? Let me know in the comments section! Remember to LIKE and SHARE! As always THANK YOU for reading!!
