I can’t believe it’s been over a year since I first started Nice Job Breaking It, Hero and it has been such an amazing journey, full of so much growth! In my first Year End Wrap-Up post, I dubbed 2016 my New Bark year, because this time last year, I was just starting my blogging journey here on WordPress. I was new to all of this, back then I was racking in a cool 10-20 views a day… and let me tell you, it was discouraging sometimes. There were days when my site didn’t get any views at all! Ya’ll I wanted to give up so many times, especially when Grad School was kicking my ass, but I didn’t! I fought every step of the way, I wrote, I networked, I put in the time and the results blew me away!
First, I’m baaaaack! Well, sort of… this is one of the two year end posts I told you all I’d be writing, I’m just posting it a day early since I’ll be on a plane back to DC on the 30th…
A little while ago, my dear friend Leafy asked me if I planned on doing a top games list for 2016 and at the time I gave her what I thought was a pretty solid, Nah… I’m terrible with lists and schedules so I go out of my way to avoid them when I can. But, as we got closer to the end of the year I found myself thinking about all the games I’d played throughout the year; the good, the bad, and the meh titles and before I knew it this post kind of wrote itself! So here I am, a few days before the start of a new year running through my favorite games of 2016…
Now, I will say this in advanced, not all of these games were released in 2016, most were, but there are a few titles that were released prior to this year… Also, I am not including the Voltage games I played (save Liar), because I plan on doing a separate list for that. Finally, before ya’ll start grabbing your torches and pitchforks because your favorite game isn’t on the list, or you don’t agree with my picks, remember this is my list, if you have suggestions feel free to tell me about them in the comments section (I am always open to game suggestions)! *claps hands* Let’s get this show on the road!!
As many of you know I am home for the holidays and if you didn’t know, you should really follow me on Twitter, because that’s pretty much all I’ve been talking about (Yuri on Ice aside)… Anyhow, I’m telling ya’ll this because I’m not going to be very active for the next week or so.
Since I don’t get the opportunity to go home very often, I’m going to use this time to hang out with my family. However, that doesn’t mean I won’t be blogging… I am currently working on two new post series for the new year and a ton of new content for you guys to enjoy in 2017! So, don’t worry, everything will be back on track in January. *ahem* There will be no new Fangirl Moment posts until January 6th, 2017 and there won’t be a new Last Week Today post until January 1st, 2017!
However, I will be posting two end of the year recap posts, on December 30th and 31st so look forward to that!! I’ll still be around on WordPress and Twitter, so feel free to drop me a line if you want to chat… just don’t expect any reviews anytime soon, since I am still playing catch up!
It’s been awhile, but I’m back again with yet another Top 10 Pokémon list! This time around, I’ll be covering my Top Ten Gen 5 Pokémon. So let’s get this party started…
The fifth generation games renewed my love of the Pokémon series! Both Black and White and their sequels had a much more dramatic narrative than any of the previous Pokemon titles. In terms of storytelling, the fifth generation games were some of the best Pokemon games to date… excluding Pokémon Sun and Moon. However, I have to say that I was not a huge fan of all of the Pokemon introduced in these games… Out of the 156 new Pokémon introduced in Black and White, I really only liked a handful of them. In fact, my team in Black mostly consisted of Pokémon from previous generations, so this wasn’t an easy list to write. But, this was a much easier list to write that the Gen Four list, so silverlinings…
Hello Heroes and Travelers, here we are at the end of another week on Nice Job Breaking It, Hero! This week has kind of been a blur, now that the holidays are on the horizon… So, I’ve been trying to catch up on a few things before I go home for the holidays! But, the universe seems to be conspiring against me going home for Christmas, because it’s super hard to get a ticket!
December 12th marked the big reveal for the new project I have been hinting about for awhile now!! OWLS, Otaku Warriors for Liberty and Self-Respect is a group of WordPress Bloggers and Vloggers, who hope to spread love an acceptance in order to create a sense of unity and to create a space for people to feel comfortable being who they are!! If you are interested in joining or wish to learn more about us, please feel free to reach out to me or any of the other members or just click, HERE! On a side note, my job FINALLY paid me… but, I can’t get the money until sometime next week. -_-
TGIF! Here we are again with another Fangirl Friday!! So this week I’m going to return to a series I covered in a previous Fangirl Moment post…. Haikyuu! If you’ve seen my twitter lately, you’ll know that one post was not enough for this amazing series!! So, I’m back with more volleyball induced fangirling with this week’s post about Haikyuu Season 3!
The entire ten episode season covered the final qualifying match for the Spring High Tournament, between Karasuno High and the current national champion team Shiratorizawa. I was literally on the edge of my seat throughout every episode, and the pay off was better than I could have ever dreamed!!
**This post will contain spoilers for Season 3 of Haikyuu, so read at your own risk!**
As usual I am super late with this award post… I blame My Horse Prince… *claps hands* So it seems that I’ve been nominated for a Unique Blogger Award by two super fantastic bloggers, Kapodaco of Criticisms and Thoughts and Remyfool of The Lily Garden!!!
So some background on these fabulous bloggers…. Kapodaco is an aspiring critic that runs one of the most honest blogs I’ve ever seen!! You can always count on him to give you a thorough assessment of whatever he reviews, be they critically acclaimed anime series or indie games, he holds everything he views to the same standard. He tends to be a harsher critic than most, but when he does write a positive review, you can be sure that the praise is well deserved!
Remy is the authority on all things yuri, if it exists, you can be sure to find a post about it at the Lily Garden! He is one of my favorite bloggers on wordpress and my self appointed kouhai 😛 He is a joy to chat with, no matter what we talk about I always have a good time! Again, thanks to both of you guys for nominating me, it really means alot to know that both of you thought I was worthy of the nomination!!
- Share the link of the blogger who has shown love to you by nominating you.
- Answer the questions.
- In the spirit of sharing love and solidarity with our blogging family, nominate 8-13 people for the same award.
- Ask them three questions.
So, a little while ago I joined forces with a few WordPress Bloggers to work on a very special project! In light of recent current events, Kausus of Otaku Gamer Zone came up with a brilliant idea, a group to help spread a positive message of hope! And thus the OWLS (Otaku Warriors for Liberty and Self Respect) were born!! Together we hope to spread love an acceptance in order to create a sense of unity and to create a space for people to feel comfortable being who they are!!
“We are a group of otaku bloggers who promotes acceptance of all individuals regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion and disability. We emphasize the importance of respect, kindness, and tolerance to every human being.”
If ya’ll will remember back to my doomed Summer Blogging Plans post, I was supposed to play another game by Poison Apple Tales called, War: Valentines Edition, but like all things, I got distracted and that game kind fell through the cracks. So, when Dreamgazer contacted me a little while ago about the beta demo for their new and improved title, Beauty and the War (X Playing Pieces), I knew I had to find a way to fit it into my schedule!
It took me a month, but I finally got around to playing this game and I must say, I am impressed with the sheer scope of this demo! Upon it’s release, Beauty and the War will be available for PC (Windows, Mac, and Linux) and will be completely free!
The internet is home to some truly bizarre stuff, so when I saw images of handsome man’s head superimposed on a horse’s body, I laughed along with the rest of you all and didn’t really think much of it… In fact, I think I assumed it was some ridiculous fan-made creation. So, when I found out that not only was this not a hoax, but a very real otome game called Uma no Prince-sama (renamed My Horse Prince for the English localization), I didn’t know how to feel.
I’m no stranger to strange animal dating games, they’re everywhere, from free mobile apps like Animal Boyfriend to commercial otoge like Hatoful Boyfriend and Dandelion~ Wishes Brought to You, there are no shortage of human/animal titles on the market. Hell, I quite enjoyed Hatoful Boyfriend, so I figured the leap from pigeons to horses shouldn’t have been such a big deal… right?!
